That's fine, that's fine, but let's just remember that we're all pretty cool on the west side, too.

Not me. I really dislike the 5.0 F.I. badge on my hood. 5.0 always has been and probably always will be reserved for the Mustang. My motor is a 305. As for F.I., there are no carbureted cars sold anymore. I get asked what F.I. means all the time. Oooh, fuel injection --it's just not that impressive anymore.

I really don't like the whole switch to the metric system for engine displacement. For everything else, I think not using the metric (SI, really) system is stupid--it's just so much easier than our nonsense. 2 reasons to use cid:

All the classic motors are identified by cubic inch (and by the code). I will admit though, that 6.6L (second gen) has always sounded impressive to me. But on the whole, use cid (and I'd still rather see 400).

The metric approximations are not exact enough to identify a motor. An L98 is a 5.7L. An LT1 is a 5.7L. An LS1 (346) is 5.7L. A 426 is a 7L. A 427 is a 7L. A 428 is a 7L. A 429 is a 7L. Oh, 302 = 5.0L. 305 = 5.0L. That's how I started this thing. A 302 (chevy or ford) is a performer; a 305 is not (in anything resembling stock trim).

Back on the subject of the SS emblems. I belive the only way a car should have them is if it does have the ***** to back it up. I run low 13's but still have a lot of tuning issues to work out, 12's are to be no prob. and after the bugs are worked out the NOS gets installed and the real fun begins. Now if my car still had the lowly 305 TBI in it there is no way I ever think of putting ss emplems on it.

I'm gonna put Yenko z06 type R badges on my car . Since there wasn't a YZR ( that's what I'm gonna call it for short...YZR) Since there was no YZR in 89 I know you all will be cool with it right!

...no don't worry, I wont do it till I can back it up of course! DUH!

Oh yeah, and a quick note the moderators- Can we add a new forum. "how to tear down your 3rd gen and make it a 4th gen"

since even my grandmother has a 4th gen hood and a console in her 3rd gen.

SERIOUSLY guys, I hate people who always complain, and I tried to figure out why I hate all this SS badge and 4th gen stuff, and I figured i out. It's not original anymore. Prime, I love the interior and it's clear that you put time into your car, so who cares if you have SS badges, it was cool. I don't remember the name of the guy with the black iroc and 4th gen RA hood and the 4th gen console, but his ride is cool too. Fyrbyrd is it? With that prowler orange paint, damn that's gorgeous!!! But all I see now is everyone else copying. I know Iknow, if it's cool what the big deal? No biggie, do what you want. Just remember who the pioneers were, and who did the custom fabricating so you all could be trendy.

No flames intended, just had to vent.

Yeah, and how 'bout a "How to keep your stock thirdgen frozen in the 80's for eternity" or "Modification....the death of a thirdgen" or maybe even "Modifiers will be Prosecuted"

hehehe

We're all friends here. I like to modify my car too! I know if I saw a 4th gen SS wing on a 3rd gen, my attitude would be to compliment the guy who made it fit, not to pick his brain on how to do it. Incidentaly, if anyone HAS done that, I'd love to see it!

Yeah, I've exactly been thinking about something like that myself for my ...uhhh...RS that I'm converting to an SS (You see why I'm defensive about the anti-SS remarks now, huh )

*THE thirdgen antichrist...a fake SS!) see pics below!! *

Hey now, I didn't say I didn't like the hood, just the badges.

As for the wing, I think it would have to be custom done. I was almost thinking it would be cool to take the aftermarket IROC wing that looks stock but is actually a little taller and sand the SS wing shape into it, Higher in the middle I mean! It'd be tough though.

*chanting* do it!...do it!....do it!.... The hood looks good on your car man! I think the SS theme would nicely compliment that hood.

just b/c someone likes the interior of a 4th gen doesnt mean they are making there car a 4th gen.i have seen 4th gens with iroc rims.that doesnt mean they want to have there car be a 3rd gen iroc.anyways where is in your discretion to say that there idea is stupid.maybe your car is ugly and a peice of ****.but i bet your proud of it.if your not then get rid of it and dont put a bad name to the 3rd gen cars.
