Bigger Grill
Has anybody removed the center piece of the grill? I'd like to open up the grill and make it one big oval. I have other "plans" to utilize the opened space. I know that the bumper is behind it, so I was going to use some thin metal pieces to attach to the top and bottom, but leave the front cut out so it appears to be just an open space. I'll probably use 1/8" mild steel and either weld or bolt it to the sides of the bumper. Think 70's camaro wth the split bumper. Just wondering if anyone had done this, and if there were any pics.

Re: Bigger Grill
I've been here for quite a while and spend a lot of time on this site doing research, reading old threads etc. and have never seen one. That does not mean they don't exist. I'm curious about your plans.
You know the front takes a nice black insert that is placed there. Some with bowties like mine. Without it it looks pretty bad.
I'm trying to imagine what this grill would look like without it.
(the hood gap has been fixed)

Re: Bigger Grill
I have the same grill, but with fog lights. I've got several plans for the front grill, actually. The first being a lit front grill using LEDs. Similar to the skyline in Gran Turismo 5.

I'm also going to be twin turbo'ing the 305 LB9 when I finally decide to fork out the cash for forged internals, and I'm done with the 350. So I'd like to have some good airflow for the interecooler, as well as room to mount a very thick intercooler. I also think it might be more aesthetically pleasing without the center piece of the grill in there. I'm also thinking of doing porsche accent lights in place of the regular parking lights/blinkers.

Re: Bigger Grill
I think someone has done it to put maximum amount of air to the intercooler if im not mistaken. it might have been a previous COTM contestant or winner. I wanna say it was BIG MODS but I may be wrong.

Re: Bigger Grill
So, I'm just imagining how much better this would look if I had the middle piece gone, and smaller, brighter foglights installed...

Re: Bigger Grill
That's almost exactly what I want to do. Any idea who I should contact for info? I'd like to know what they did to reinforce the front bumper after taking everything out.

Re: Bigger Grill
I don't want to buy something, I want to make something. I do, however, think I'll call them and see if I can't get any information about it.
