Ever thought of making an SS hood for Camaros? I like the SS hoods, but the one from ASCD looks a little too wide for me. I like the ones that aren't as wide, I'm not sure what year has those.

My hood is the same one, just bought it from a different place. Here's what it looks like for those who haven't seen it (painted).

I figured it'd be easier for you guys to see what the final product will look like.

RamAirZ,

Love the look (despite the obvious comment about it being a Firebird hood).

I debated a LOT about getting a RamAir hood or my Turbo Daytona hood....

We see which one won

I keep thinking I need another Camaro to have the Ram Air hood on (so I have both).... Ah, well.... One Camaro keeps me plenty busy...

Hey Camaro6spd. Technically it's not a firebird hood since I didn't take it off a Firebird. I know it's the same design, and I am sure that is the car they used tio design these hoods, but It was made for a Camaro, that's why it fit. All's it is, is the style. So if I take a part off a Firebird from the junkyard, like let's say a T-Top, or seats from a 4th gen Firebird, would that be considered inbreeding. I shouldn't matter where it came from as long as it looks good, am I right. I wanted this hood because I love the look of those hoods, and I wanted something different. Everyone gets a Cowl hood (not saying there bad, I like them, but I wanted something different). Just my 2 cents. Sorry, I'm cranky this morning. Got home late from a Christmas Party for work.

I don't like the hood on thirdgens either. Thirdgens are squared off, and the hood isn't. It doesn't go with the car. Fourth gen TA's are rounded, so the hood goes perfectly with them.

I agree that the 4th gen Firebirds look sweet because they are more rounded than 3rd gen cars (especially the camaro). To each his own.

Hey Ram,

I agree with you, I want something different and the RAM AIR II are pretty original in my book. Not to mention, I like those types of hoods and hope to get is functional as well.

Question: Where did you get yours?? Did it fit perect?? Was it a pain?? $$?? Thanks man.

Hey guys, thanks alot. I got the hood from www.usbodysource.com, it didn't fit PERFECTLY, but I had it fitted right. so now it fits pretty good. The problem was the hinges, the bolts that came with the hood were bigger than the holes in my hinges. It wasn't a pain in the butt either. They sell the hood for $649 now. I picked mine up since the company is in florida too, and I paid $650 (with tax and the hood was $589 at the time). Thanks again

I think it looks better on the camaro then the firebird. Our price will be less then the us body price by quite a bit. we are working on one more hood for the camaro and a nose peice for the firebird. Then it is ground effect time!!

GT AUTO what kind of hood is your protoype or are you thinking about..... what would be sweet is if you made like 12 prototypes and put them on one of the sites you vote on.....

No offense, but I think it looks like **** on his car along with that ugly grill he is wearing. But I am all for personal customization. And I'm sure he understands my personal tastes. I can respect his ride, excellent job, I've looked at the photos. What kinda rims are those by the way RamAirZ??

I really dislike that hood on Camaros, it just does not fit. As for it on all thridgens, i have to disagree, whats his face (forgive me for not remebering) has that on his pewtler orange trans am, and we all drool over that car.

I'd like to be able to buy an functional L88 hood for my Camaro, or a better looking Ram Air hood then ASD makes.

My money is on an L88 hood if I can get my hands on it.

Just my .02 cents

Different views and opinions is what makes it great. But respect makes it even better

Hey Un4givin, I can understand your taste, but you could go about a different way in expressing them. Like with your first post to me a long time ago when you siad my car was sweet, but you just didn't like the hood, instead of calling my car trash, and my hood trash, like you did in the other post. And saying it looks like *** in this post. I know everyone has an opinion, but you could be a little more mature about it when you post them. Just my .02 cents. Oh, and the grill is quite nice in a better pic. That pic is really shaded, and I think it looks like crap in the pic too.

I think that hood doesn't belong on a camaro, but thats just my opinion. Seats are different than body parts. It also doesnt go with an 85-90 TA. I want to see it on a 91-92 TA. I think it'd go well with the lines on that car (the swooping GFX, etc) I've seen it on a banshee formula but it just didn't look quite right. Eh, whatever.

There is only one car that can wear that hood. That is a LS1 WS-6 TA/Formy. I see a lot of tacky stuff here though. I don't see why everyone is in love with thirdgens if you all jsut want to make them 4th gens?

The SS hoods are different cuz even though they're on 4th gens, they've appeared on cars since the sixties. How come no one makes a LS1 SS hood?...or a SS fin for that matter?

The GFX look like rice. But heck, that's what's trendy right?

I agree with the SS hood comment. If there was a good SS hood out there (ASCD didn't appeal to me), I would have gotten one, but everyone has there own tastes. I wanted something different, but still look good at the same time. IMO it does. But that's just mine

No, it does look good, on your car, I just prefer stock 99 out of 100 times.

I would like to see that SS hood though. Not the 93-97, the 98-02 hood. I've never seen a 3rd gen version.

Like mentioned above, yours looks sharp, & I am eventually going to change my hood so that it will be different too, even though I do like stock cars too.

As much as I like the hood, I am thinking that it looks too much like the Pontiac hood for my car & am hoping that they will come out with an SS style that does not raise up too high!

not to change the subject, but another thing you need to do (GT Auto) is make a hood for the 88-96 Grand Prixs'. There are @ least 2500+ guys on http://www.clubgp.com that would love a hood from you other than the flat one and the GTP hood. Obviously you are making sales and money off of us thirdgen.org guys, but I know those guys @ Club Grand Prix would love something.

I don't really think this post is about wrather you like it or not, but the fact that GTAUTO is manufacturing products for us. So if you don't like it then don't buy it. But if you do like it then support our sponsor.

GTA auto accesories should make a ss hood ram air kit that has an option that comes with main filter setup to make the scoops functional... my personal favorite is the ss hood because of how it matches the ground effects of my 92

once again i would beter want something that is functional over looks

I like that hood alot, and i am in the market for a new one. How much do those run? US Body ones are way too much, but I would love to be the first one in Peoria with that hood.

Could someone photoshop that black camaro with the hood white for me, or put that hood on my car in the pic below? Thanks

gt auto, are you guys going to make a ss hood? i have been looking around for a ss hood but the $400 price is a little too over my budget, i plan on geting the ss hood from some company and painting it in summer. gt auto accesories should make a kit that makes the ram air hoods functional.

I don't like the Firebird type ram air on Camaros.

I wish that GT could make us those 85 - 92 stock z28/iroc hoods in fiberglass. I like the stock style it's just that they are so heavy. If GT could make a hood hinge version and a cheaper lift off version that would be great!

EDIT: I think that a less agressive SS hood like the 98-02 hoods would be a good product too. I would probably choose that over a stock IROC hood if it was a pindown hood, cost between $200-$250, and could be made functional with tuned port injection.

I'll buy a jongbloed hood. As long as I can attach it to the stock hood brackets

personally i like the ASCD big block hood...think it has an aggressive look and can be made even more functional by cutting the front opening

One more vote for Jongbloed hood. I had almost given up hope of this hood ever being made.I think its the neatest hood ever made for a third gen, it fits the frontal lines of the car like it was a factory hood. Can't wait to see some real information on it(pictures and pricing)
