Scored this for an 85 Harley Sportster I had... She is complete, unmolested, mint interior, and rust free...couldn't have asked for more! Only thing it needs is the original spoiler (any ideas what this would have had?) and the faded black paint job redone...Good to be back!!
Not sure why I can't post multiple pics??

Nice job!
I will but I need to figure out what's up with the clutch pedal...
The previous owner said the slave cylinder needs replaced (gave me a spare) and bled...engine runs nice and smooth though, just have had it started once to hear the engine

If it's a 91 formula it would have had the later fiberglass wraparound wing which does not have a third brake light in it. I can see it still has the correct hatch, you will have to look and see if the hatch deck was swapped or re drilled. The wing that's on it may be junk ( they rust from the inside out and delaminate) but if the brake light on it works you can get a little cash for it. The 91-92 wings are much more durable and easy to restore, but sometimes hard to find.
Since you have a 91 with the third brake in the glass, you have the freedom to put any wing or spoiler you want there if you don't worry about originality. Many people put 4th gen wings on, but frankly I think they're in denial about how well it works on a third gen. If you can't find the correct wing, I'd go with the older style straight wing, looks good still.

If this car wasn't in such good shape and original, I probably would just go with any spoiler but it just needs a repaint from sun fading and the correct wing...now the search begins!!!

I assume you're familiar with these cars then? So you know what a score a 305 TPI 5 speed 91-92 car is? GM really seemed to get their **** together for 91-92 about making sure the performance models actually came with performance engines.
I'd also suggest getting the 91-92 wing would be worth it, also agree with the previous poster about the fourth gen wing not really looking right. It's not bad but...
That's a car I would rock stock and have a blast, if it's a G92 car it can easily outrun L98 cars and will be a lot more fun to drive while it's doing it.. Have you checked the codes to see if it's a G92 car? I think G92 was the code that triggered the hotter L98 cam too.
With all the nearly infinite option possibilities these cars had, nearly all of them are "rare", but this particular combination I think will be more and more sought after over the next 20-40 years. These cars will never make good investments, but the 305TPI and 5 speed setup combined into a relatively scarce 91-92 body style will make for a pretty unique and desirable car.

Yup that's a helluva score.
As for the 91-92 wraparound spoiler boy those things are hard to find. I know they sell them for like $400 new(too much for me). It took me a while to find a used one in good shape but they are out there. The 87-90 formula spoilers just don't compare to the 91-92.

So why are the 91-92 cars scarce ?
Also, just for the record, clutch hydraulics are cheap/easy to fix. Even if it's a pressure plate problem, a clutch isnt too hard with a T5. You can just manhandle it as it weighs as much as a telephone book.

Only made for 2 years and made in much lower numbers than any of the other years with the possible exception of 1990 since it was a half year of production. But I think for the Camaros, there were less Z28s in 92 than there were IROCs in 1990. Firebirds tend to be more scarce every year than Camaros.Originally Posted by 89Formula3

1988 they made 13,000 Formulas and 9,000 TA's.
1989 they made 17,000 Formulas and 6000 TA's.
1990 they made 5000 Formulas and 1000 TA's.
1991 they made 5500 Formulas and 3500 TA's
1992 they made 1000 Formulas and 1000 TA's.
They used the same basic body style from 85-90, and they made more TAs adn Formulas in 1989 than they did in 1991 and 1992 put together. Add in that it's a 5 spd TPI 305 car... and its even more scarce relatively. It's not like it's a goldmine of investment potential, but as far as vanilla thirdgens go, it's one of the more desirable ones. I also happen to really like the 91-92 Formulas/TA's a lot better. Just be careful with those nose pieces, they're not easy to find replacements for. Note the production numbers and you see why.
Thanks! That's why when I saw it was really untouched, body was straight/solid, and interior in great shape, TTops, 5 speed and ws6 suspension I couldn't trade the guy quick enough. He said the precious owner took the spoiler off the car and he replaced it with what's on there. I want to restore this one factory original vs modding it as it seems too special to mess with
