Gauge Fog on Speedo

There is a slight fog around the 5 mph mark and od reset peg. its a small area but it is very noticable. Usually the fog goes away on the other gauges if I am doing them over with glass cleaner but this one has been on there since I got it. It seems to be on the inside of the glass. Any remedies for this? Do I have to remove the cluster?

You may have some moisture behind the glass, pull the fascia out and remove the window and let it dry out.

The part in front of the cluster. If you don't feel comfortable with pulling the cluster, you can just remove the clear cover that has the fog on it.But the cluster just plugs in,very easy to remove.

That's odd. They aren't really sealed enough to hold moisture like that. If you do pull it, check out what may be causing it. I might also try polishing it and/or putting some anti-fog treatment on it too. The plastic is easy to scratch.

You don't even need to remove the whole cluster. The clear plastic comes out before you even get that far.

Re: Gauge Fog on Speedo

I was going to use some plastic polish on it. It looks like moister when I spray the other gauges with glass cleaner but those go away.

I will take a look today at what screws to remove. The bottom bezel with for lights and stereo gain comes off right?

Spraying the lens is prolly how that got there. You said it's right next to the reset button. My guess is cleaner went through the hole for the reset and got on the inside. Spray cleaner on the cloth then wipe the lens.

Re: Gauge Fog on Speedo

Unfortunately that fog was on the car when I got it. But it acts like when I spray the gauges the fog eventually goes away on other gauges when I spray but that obviously stays there :/ so it acts the same. Just wondering if maybe it was just scratched

Yes,be careful with the plastics.when you get into it,you'll see what needs to be removed.Tilt your wheel down all the way and maybe loosen the front screws on the dash pad, that makes it easier to remove the whole cluster, but if you don't what to remove the cluster don't loosen them, just remove the clear lens.

Re: Gauge Fog on Speedo

It could be crazing. It can be polished out, but do so carefully. The plastic can melt and end up making the problem worse.

Re: Gauge Fog on Speedo

It may be. Will be able to take it off. Just got back from a long road trip. I noticed it around the bottom of my gas gauge too
