Detailing tire lettering youself

Has anyone done this? I'm digging the white letter look which seems to be making a come back. I've heard of people using a oil based sharpie of some sort to do it.

Yes others used Sharpie but I would use a paint designed for tires like the Dupli-Color Hot Tires pen.

try tredwearletters you can order custom white letters for your tires that come out a lot nicer than using a pen

I wonder what that does to the balance once you stick those on?

I have seen some of those installed and you could see the offset lettering in the background. It looked really tacky. I would only do this if it looked 100% from the tire manufacturer.

Re: Detailing tire lettering youself

While I would not do those stick ons at the VA 1/2 mile event there were several cars with them there, and none of them flew off or anything going over 160MPH.

They looked OK from 10 feet or so and "eh" up close.

I just ordered a white pen for my Hoosiers on our white SS. I have always thought they looked pretty good with white letters.
