Where the bodies are buried...

So I recently got my first third gen f-body, a 1989 Trans Am. The engine bay has a ton of acorn shells in it so I'm assuming that there are likely mouse and rat corpses throughout the car. Anywhere in particular they tend to congregate so I can be proactive in clearing them out?

Damn, looks like the whole dash has to come out to get to that. Time to pull out the boroscope...

No need to pull the whole dash just to look. Take the dash pad off and you can get the the box enough for a mirror(or scope) to get in there. I'd also pull the blower fan assembly in the engine bay. You can look right into the box from there.

Front seats and the rear lockbox and spare tire well are common places too.

Re: Where the bodies are buried...

I had a major infestation one year, when I used poison pellets for kill bait. The mice were stashing the pellets inside the car and then died in there. I found them in the heater ducts on passenger side, under the rear seats and when I removed the center console, they were wedged between the carpet and the plastic. It was a real mess, but I got it cleaned up. After steam cleaning everything I used this activated charcoal pet neutralizer spray. It did a good job of getting rid of the smell. Total casualty count was 9.

I found a nest in the blower fan assembly when I was replacing the heater core and dash panel

Thankfully no mice were found.

Re: Where the bodies are buried...

I pulled a car (third gen)out of an abandoned garage once, had to sit inside and steer while a friend pushed from behind. When we got it out in the day light we found snake skin in the rear cargo area. I would have stained that driver seat if a snake would have crawled out while i was steering.
