Adding more clear coats

My paint doesn't look faded, just looks like its getting dull. It was repainted 2-3 years ago, 4 at the most. But I am wondering what getting the car wet sanded, 3 of clear and alil more wet sanding and polishing would be a cheaper way to get some shine back into her rather than repainting the whole car? Cuase I don't have the amount of money to repaint her with the kind of quality I would want. But I'd like to improve her look so she'll last me for two more years while I'm building her up and showing her off. What about cost?

Cheaper than a regular paint job, and if you have a few rock chips you can sand them down and airbrush color on the area if you have the time. I basically did this when I added my stripes the first time. I colorsanded the paint, added the stripes, and re-clearcoated the hood and rear decklid. Just be careful to get the surface real clean before shooting the clear. I thought I had, but still ended up with a couple of streaks that no one else noticed, but I did. Add at least 3 coats and you'll have plenty of clear for a real good colorsanding job.

well if it was painted at a good shop then all you need to do is BUFF the car. buffing brings back out the shine that people are missing. its soo easy and worth it. try and get it buffed out first then if your still not happy. get it RECLEARED.. or so you say. and its really hard and kinda ignorant to just reclear a car. if you burn through on some parts because you didnt just scuff the surface then you have to blow clear on that part. i talked to the painter at work about this once and he laughed. he said it wouldnt be correct and it would look funny. but to all his own.

and if you do decide to RECLEAR. make sure a professional is doing it. and get it BUFFED after that so it looks better.
