new paint job???

On average how much would a really good paint job cost on my 86 Iroc, the body is very clean because it was painted back in 1996. It just has a few surface rust spots but no major body damage. I mean removing all the ground effects and trim and doing it right. Also about how much for a color change? Do they pull the entire engine to do it right???

Well for a good one, a minimum of 1500. I've seen $12,000 paint jobs where everything is disasembled and painted. But those are on older collector cars. Pulling the engine should be done if you want it done right, but I would just try to mask as best as you can. Its gonna cost alot to pull a motor

A decent paint job is at least $1000 just for materials. A true show quality job will start somewhere over $5000, and $10,000 isn't uncommon. The most expensive paint job that I'm personally aware of in my area is a candy red '34 Ford with many layered candy flames which I heard ran around $36,000. Of course if you can do it yourself, or have a relative who will do it for you, you can save lots of $$$. You get what you pay for, and while the difference between paintjobs might not be immediately apparent, put two similar cars with a $2000 and a $10,000 paintjob next to each other and it will become obvious.
