Re: Front rotor size 87 IROC
Are you asking about rotors or "brakes" as a whole? ...because the rotors have to fit the whole system, which I think on a stock 87 is 10.5". You can't just get bigger rotors.
....but if you mean what size brake system as a whole, then I'd say probably 13", but double check. I'm running 12" on my stock 16" Irocs, and that's plenty of brake for a non-race car. My big brake kit is from a 4th gen LS1 car, and included the larger rotors, modified stock spindles and the necessary caliper mounting brackets, as well as the larger (and BETTER) calipers and pads themselves.
....and you shouldn't need new lines, but a set of Earl's lines doesn't hurt!

Re: Front rotor size 87 IROC
Thanks for the info. I'm considering Wilwood calipers for the front. I guess the stock rotors are ok,what I'm looking for is a faster more efficient stop. With the larger rotors I only can imagine that the heat would be reduced do to the size of the rotors, and better calipers. Also what about a proportioning valve?

Re: Front rotor size 87 IROC
I "think" you can probably buy aftermarket calipers to fit your stock set up. I never actually looked. ...and I wasn't trying to convince you NOT to upgrade the whole set up, I was just saying that typically it's done as a whole.
Honestly not sure how much simply getting new calipers will help. I paid "around" 6 or 7 hundred for the 4th gen LS1 brake set up and it's a night and day difference. For that price, I wouldn't consider NOT doing at LEAST that set up if I were to do it again. SOOOO much better brake feel. Worth every penny. If you can't afford it, I'd save up, rather than just upgrade calipers.
Check out Big Brake Upgrade or FlynBye performance. LOTS of great kits.
