help with Redoing interior
help with Redoing interior
I m planning on redoing the interior of my 87 camaro z-28, basically i want all new seats, new carpet ithe car nd ithe trunk, and a new headliner. Right now the interior carpet is like grey color so is the headliner and the seats are like a 2-tone dark grey/light grey now i was thinking of just rediong the interiorto he same color italready is just new stuff but where can i find all this stuff???? I am gonna go to the junk yard and get seats bt where can i get headliner and carpet???? also any suggestions o interio colors at all the car is cranberry.
I would stick with gray unless you can find every thing in black. You can get the carpit just abought any ware that sells 3rd gen parts as for the head liner unless its a t-top car you will probably have to pay some one to do it . I wish you lived closer to me I have a 91 in my yard that I use for parts and it has good grey interior in it except the seats they could use help but all plastic is good I would let you have it all if you took the hole car I need to get rid of it and I hate to take it to a scrap yard.
Yea i probably will stick with the greay, just because if it dont i will have to change everything not just the carpet and headliner, thats oo bad you dont live closer too me cause i would definatley take it off your hands but anyway the car is a t-top so where could i find the head liner material for it?? also how come if it wasnt a t-top i would have to take it somewhere???
I've got an 89 RS that I just re-did the headliner on. It looks pretty sweet too! I picked up the material at Walmart. $5 per yard...I bought a yard and a half and that did the headliner AND the speaker covers. It's like a grey fleece material. Very easy to work with....and it *almost* matches the original color.
Took me @ 3-4 hours of time to do it from start to finish....but there was a LOT of waiting involved with repairing the headliner.
I'm in Massachusetts (Worcester area)....so if you want to tackle this and need help....gimme a shout. My girlfriend helped with this too...since she's better with fabric than I am. Looks kick ***!

I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and picked up some of the craft spray glue. I've had the headliner off for like 4 or 5 days now.....been done with it for @ 2 now. No signs of it pulling of or anything...so I think it'll be OK.
While I had it off I also slapped a few coats of fiberglass resin on the backing board to add some strength. It was falling apart from age. Came out much stronger...and will hopefully last until I get rid of the car ;-)

It's a fleece type material..so it's got a little padding to it. I went to WalMart and picked some up for $5/yard. I originally bought some cotton stuff from JoAnn Fabrics....but this stuff was MUCH better!
It was in the crafts/fabric section ;-) The lady told me that it's discontinued...so whatever they have in stock at the store is all they have! I got the last of the Grey from the W. Boylston WalMart....but I'm sure other storees will still have some. Mine still has other colors....but most have an ugly pattern.
Wanna do your headliner in a cow texture? LoL

When I did mine I went to a home fabric store and I bought 4 yards of the stuff for 40 it was black with the fome padding on the back of it I just went in and said I needed to buy some headliner matarial for my car and they said ya we can get it. I than did the same thing but I used 3m spray on glue to redo mine.

I'm going to buy a headliner, sun visors, sail panel kit.I'm going have a pro do the headliner, sun visors, sail panels so if they fall down on me, I will have a warranty on it and have it fixed.
ACC is an excellent source for carpet......some consider them costly, but the quality is not disappointing.
i have med gray carpet with matching door pannels and the gray plastic interior, i redid it all back to stock specs.........i added graphite leather interior out of a 98+ camaro and i'm having the bottom half of the door pannels done in graphite and a red that matches my paint along with a two tone wheel........i hoping that will look alright.
but, right now the light gray or med gray with graphite seats looks great.
