So since then I've been wondering if my lack of that brakelight was a bad idea. Last year on a short drive a minivan almost plowed into my back end. Couldnt help but wonder if a third brakelight would've helped. Im thinking i might run a wire inside the spoiler and cut out a small piece of the spoiler in the middle, install a small thin LED strip and clear epoxy over them.

Just stumbled across this today: smoked and red. These for Camaro look like they should work for Firebirds too, although they list one for Firebirds.
Chevy Camaro Spoiler Lights | 1982-1992

I like the idea of the light being integrated into the spoiler, like 4thgens, rather than it being attached to the decklid or the hatch--or no light at all. I'd been considering a light from a 4thgen installed into a new fiberglass Aero Wing, but one of these might even be better.
