1985 IROC with 9.5 miles....
I always wondered where this car ended up, I followed it back in the day when it was first discovered in the shipping container....

I always wondered why it had different wheels on it, and where the originals were stored...

I searched for the original 4.3 mile IROC thread, where the guy was cleaning it up and getting it running with our advice, but couldn't find it?

Yeah, I think there’s balance to be achieved in all this..
If you’re scared to drive your car there’s no balance..
I know guys that take $300,000 cars to cruise nights..
To me if I was a buyer I think the car would be more enticing at 3000 miles knowing it only goes to cruise nights and car shows and gets trailered to further shows.. but knowing the car is useable and is also the famous shipping container car would be enough..
Knowing that the guy just wants to keep the car in a bubble and under 10 miles seems like a waste. Wasn’t there a video of someone going through the brakes and lines to get the car driveable again?
I mean, if a car gets overused it and continuously exposed to elements wears out, but also if a car sits it seizes up, dries up and degrades.. The car doesn’t care about the number on the odometer, that’s all head games..
Whatever, do what you want I guess..

I guess if you feel something is valuable and 10 miles is going to make or break you than it just becomes something to admire. This is the part this car guy will never ever get.
If you want to just admire something get a painting and hang it on your wall. Buy a sculpture and put it in your beautiful garden. Erect a statue of your favorite person.
For the admiring of the automobile, well I feel it is similar to the trophy wife, you would not want to just look at her would you?

I do believe you are right about the brakes. I do remember a video of them fixing something.

Even Jay Leno says all his cars are driveable and get driven.
If you can take the car out, drive it, dust it off, shine it up and store it properly while maintaining it, changing fluids, etc I would trust that car and that’s the better car. And this car will never hit the value of most of Jay Leno’s collection..
I would want to know I could probably drive my car across country (not that I’d do that).. But that’s part of the condition IMO..
