I dont know about everyone else but i hate the way the gold wheels look on my car. My TA is black and i cringe every time i get a good look at those wheels on my car. What do you guys think about them? Also, was gold the standard color?

I especially hate gold wheels on blue cars. One of the worst combos GM ever offered. Wait a sec... that is what is on Blue right now. Real ugly too (just so you know I swapped my chrome IROCs onto my orange '88 Roc temporarily, and put the gold 15s on Blue).

 

I like them on some cars but not on mine.

 

Well, even though I fail to see how this is considered tech, I'll still answer. The look good on white and black GTAs. Other than that, I don't really care for them. You'd also probably get a better response on the Appearance board.

I love the gold wheels, especially with maroon or black combo... blue/gold is sweet too

 

The black and gold was the reason I bought my car so I think you can guess my answer.
I think most camaros with gold accent wheels look great but some of the colors on GTA's just dont go. Maybe there is just to much gold in those mesh wheels or its too dark.


Shame on you guys for dissing the bandit colors that made the Trans AM an icon.

 

I guess you can say I like the gold rims enough to have invested in a set. I originally planned to peint the centers black or charcoal, but kept them gold. I like it. Lon

 

Yeah I like them in the ideal conditions Think its a bit much on a black car though.

 

I almost bought a 87' moroon IROC with gold rims, it looked pretty good.

 

They look great with dark green 91 GTA's

 

I like em. I got gold rims on my black IROC, cuz I got the gold package. Looks pretty good to me. And its different so it stands out, thats a plus. Although I'm not a fan of tan interior, but whatever.

 

Ok, I'll concede to gold looking good on Polo Green

I'll even give you maroon, white, and black too in a few cases too.

 

The factory gold rims on GTA's are sweet, but as far as going out and buying ghetto rim(like 20 inches or some **** like that) ....i am gonna have to condemm(sp) that ****.

I like the gold rims, My 95' Bonneville SSEI was a metallic gold with the the GTA style rims and they looked good to me. My 89 Camaro has the Gold five star Iroc rims. The rims came off a black car (oooh black and gold) My Camaro is white, we shall see if the rims look good when I get the car back with new paint from the body shop.

 

Thanks, Apone! Those are actually very flattering pics. It's somewhat of a project.. 105K on the clock, minor body damage on driver's side bumper and passenger side quarter (very minor), and the paint on the hood is bad. I'm still happy with it, tho... not too much work needed. No burning anything (except rubber- ), no leaks, factory compression.

Just my opinion but I dislike gold, I think it looks a little gaudy. But in moderation, just the wheels kinda thing, I guess if that's your cup of tea then that's cool.

If you don't like your Gold GTA rims, I have a set of '86 Vette rims to trade ya. I want the GTA rims, but not w/ the GTA center caps. Can I put the regular Firebird center caps on there instead??

They are OK I guess.

 

They look good on the cars with gold GFX. Chrome wheels (or any color in the silver family) look like crap on cars with gold GFX.

Its different.. common gold rims BLING BLING!
but I prefer a shiny silver.. nice and shiney to tell u the truth!!!
I love em shiny chrome look to theM!
But my car looks very clean and nice when I wash it and everything is sparkling from the wax. Ive had many complainments on the road!

just bought the car to days ago, black with gold rims and pin stripes, at first i thought i would go straight black and get some silver rims but it is begining to grow on me, maybe in a few years when i get a new paint job I'll go with something else, but for now gold will do.
