Appraisals
Have any of you guys had your car's appraised by a certified appraiser (like someone haggerty and other classic insurance companies honor) ?
I had mine appraised last week and it came in at $21,900. A little under my total investment of $26,000, but understandable.
Was curious if any of you guys have had it done and what your thoughts were in regards to value.
I know these cars don't sell at auction, So this is more for insurance replacement costs.

Re: Appraisals
I had an independent company do it, but they are certified with Hagerty and others.
Ended up having the car insured for the full $21,900 appraisal. I've got over $26k into it but at least if something happens I'll get something back.

Re: Appraisals
So not directly on topic, but did Hagerty require an appraisal? When I got insured through Hagerty, they told me I could get up to $20k coverage with nothing more than basic photos and some information. I asked about $30k, (though I wouldn't have gone that high)...they said I'd need some in depth photos and some receipts, but that an appraisal wasn't necessary. I ended up starting at $15k, and went to $20k for the last two years before selling.
Just curious....

Re: Appraisals
Mine is insured through Grundy at $32k. I provided them photos of the car when I bought it and insured it accordingly. Over the years, it's increased due to annual increase rates, but also due to auction pricing. Grundy called me a few years back and said that I should increase my policy because these cars are now the "in" car and auction pricing has shown its value.

Re: Appraisals
I have 2 cars insured by Hagerty. They just ask what you want to insure it for. The more you want it insured, the more it costs. never been asked for photos or any proof of anything other than the VIN and that I have a daily driver on another ins co.
