Speedhut gauges arrived! -Sneak peak before install.

Sooo, just wanted to show off my new Speedhut gauges! They're modeled after their Humvee gauges, but of course spec'd for my 88 Iroc. They also light up with blue with red pointers at night instead of the Humvee green. On my previous 89, I really went for the loud in your face look. Bright red, loud exhaust, the whole deal. She ran hard, but was also a cream-puff. I admit it. THIS car, I'm really going for substance over appearance. Heck I'm not even planning on painting it for quite some time. Full build though, this car will walk the walk. ...and I just loved the pure utilitarian appearance of these gauges. NOT flashy, just get 'er done. Anyhow....it'll be awhile before install, but they had some insane deals over the holidays. Couldn't pass 'em up. Figured I'd show 'em off.

Thanks! ...I'm gonna make a separate install when the time comes. It'll be a little while though. They had 20% off for Christmas. Had to take advantage of that sale.

will you need the speedo to go above 120 mph if this car is going to be a performer?!

Well... Maybe. Life is nothing if not compromises, right? I knew I wanted the GPS with all the timers/etc. etc. with that LCD screen at the bottom of the speedo. And I knew I wanted the fuel gauge incorporated into the gauge to give more space on the dash for the fuel pressure gauge. That essentially meant I'd lose HALF of the gauge space. If not 120, the other option was 160. That meant that 0-80 MPH was crammed into about 60 degrees of dial sweep. Figure 0-80 is where the vast majority of my driving will happen. I know I'll do some autocross, but 120 will be fine for that. Same for highway driving, and I'm not really a drag racer. I may get onto a real road coarse though, and you can certainly get up there soooo who knows. I may have to go back at a later date and possibly get another gauge. Having NEVER been on an actual track before, I gambled with the 120. We'll see how that works out.

ah, I gotcha, I gotcha. yes, then your thought process makes sense. you will be able to more accurately see the needle sweep at the normal speeds that you are going, instead of having 0-80 crammed into half the display. gotcha

Re: Speedhut gauges arrived! -Sneak peak before install.

I love my speed hut gauges, was the easy gauge solution in 2014 with my LS swap. Also went with 120mph (well, 200km/hr) for my speedo, as I figure I'll hit very close to it in 1/4 mile.... I do wish I got the GPS, as I now have to re-calibrate mine after a gear swap and tire size change.

I like em so much I might even use them in my airplane build.

sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I wanted to see if there were any pics of the gauges installed? I'm contemplating the Speedhut gauges for my car because their dimensions seem to be closest to the original gauge sizes.

These look pretty cool. I wonder if these are the same as the ones hawks was gonna do. I have to say my auto meter setup is cool and I'm happy w it but this is less money and looks really good. These setups are absolutely less work. I had to make wiring harnesses for my setup.

Jim, man.....life happens and I've actually sold the car and gone in a different direction completely. I DO still have the gauges if you're interested. I'm not trying to sell them, but if anyone wanted them......
