tire rotation

ive heard that on radial tires that if you say rotate one on the left side thats been run for a while to the right side that the steel belts inside will have been in a certain way from going one direction all the time and then because they now go the other direction, the belt will try to relocate or something and cause tread seperation. is this true? Is it safe to rotate side to side instead of front to back(not that that would make sense)? please help, friend very worried

The longer you run a tire in one direction, the better the chance will be that the belts will separate once you run them in the opposite direction. I used to cross- rotate mine and they wouldn't last long before doing this.

Usualy the rubber burns off before you get a chance to rotate.

To correctly rotate the tire from one side of the car to the the it's necessary to dismount the tire from the rim and turn it around (or actually better to swap with the rim on the other side). That way the tire will still rotate the same direction, just on the other side of the car.
