Hood Gap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,
I'm goin home to work on my car tonight (at Purdue now) anyways, there's a gap between the hood and bumper cover, probably about a half inch, kinda looks like its not shut all the way but it is. I haven't looked at it yet (just purchased the car) but I have seen several thirdgens with this problem. Is it a simple fix? What causes it??? If I had to guess it could be fixed by screwing down the two hood stops????????? Any help would be appreciated so I know where to look when I get home.

Thanks

Try the hood stops first ... that's easiest. But a half-inch gap probably isnt from that. Check where the nose pan grabs and releases the hood. (stock hood i am guessing) There are 2 bolts on either side and the 'hood release mechanism' is adjustable. Try lowering that. Just a guess, but it might help.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the stops first then look at the latch. A 1/2" may be an exageration, I haven't measured it. Just trying to guess from the last time I looked at it.

I didn't know about that show. I'll check it out. I'd definetely like too.

If your hood is aligned with your fenders, don't lower it. You can adjust the nose up slightly by putting fender washers under the cover on the topside with the retaining bolts going through them. This will pull the nose cover up a bit. Otherwise, don't worry about it. The gap was normal on our cars, even from the factory.
