Tinting in vert

Is there any way to tint the back window in a convertible? BTW it's plastic. I was wondering if there is maybea spray on tint that actually works. I don't want to paint it. I still want to be able to see out. I was thinking maybe around 5% vlt. I want it as dark as possible. It would be even greater if there is one that gives a metallic finish. I just know the film stuff won't stay attached, so I don't want to even try it. Some help please?

Not quite sure.

That back window is like gold, you don't put stickers on it and you don't put paint on it. If it gets damaged in any way, it can cost a lot of money to repair and/or replace. This is the voice of experience ($900 for a custom made top and installed b/c of window problems).

Besides, no one can see in it anyway and what they do see is totally distorted, so I don't think it is necessary or intelligent.

My top is perfect right now, but I've checked to see what a new top would cost and they said about $650. Anyhow, I'm not worried about people being able to make out what they see. I don't want them to even be able to see in. Certain times arise when it is best if people can not see what I'm doing. And if a theif can't see what's in a car, there is a better chance of them walking away than if they see $3000 worth of equipment. Car alarms are worthless unless there is somebody there to hear it. Even then, the thief has about a minute or two to get what they can.

The right way to do it would be to have it replaced with some tinted/smoked plastic. There's nothing out there that I know of that could darken that plastic with any kind of quality.

I have seen the spray tint and if you have a steady hand it works .

I would suggest trying it out on another piece of plastic first, untill you get the hang of it.
