tail light black outs
tail light black outs
well, i was out last night and i came out and unfortunatly had to see my tail light black outs stolen! a short while after i noticed my visor on my back window was 1/2 ripped of, that really pissed me off! well anyway, therenothing i can really do. anyone have any suggestions for the future of a way to not get your black outs stolen with out having to remove them everytime you park somewhere? does anyone have any inexpensibe black outs or know a place where to purchase them inexpensively? retail is to expensive to pay twice. let me know, thanks

i have seen them screwed on, i think that is absolutly rediculous to do, i wont screw anything into my car (it scares me), thanks for the tip, epoxy sounds like a considerable idea. thanks, any other ideas?
when i had mines long time ago i knew that they might get stolen some day.. And i didnt want to make any holes on my car so what i did was tape razors on parts of the edge behind the black so in case someone tried something they'd have to pay for it. Well it happened this was last year but i saw some blood stains on my rear bumper and one blackout on the floor cracked, my guess is he cut himself and got pissed and threw it on the floor, Stupid jackass.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Vortech! I thought I was the only one! I did the exact same thing.... I bought razor blades, than I bent the non sharp end so I could glue em to the light on an angle... With my blackouts u can only grab em from the bottom.... I had a whol strip of em on each bottom... Than I epoxyed the blackouts to the tail lights.... Dont know if anyone tried to get em or not but I never lost em!

I had some GTS black outs on the headlights of my dually. I came out one day from shopping and one was gone.
I don't know if it fell off or if it was stolen. I had had problems with them sliding off. This style stays on by fitting b/w the light and the grill. It was supposed to stay tight.
Anyway I called GTS and told them it was gone and I thought it might have fallen off. They sent me for free a whole new set. You may want to call them and inquire. You could tell them you think the velco or whatever holds them on was faulty, it may work.
Good Luck!

im always here to help out a fellow third gen, U shouldnt suffer cause some asswipe couldnt afford $30.00 for black outs, what i did was tape the razors with electric tape on the edges, at night it wasnt visible when brake lights were on, I just wish i could of seen it that night when he cut himself. This is your only defense from a holes taking ur Black outs. Me personally i just gave up on them and stay without em. My front black outs Went flying on the higway.

that sucks. you just can't have anything nice anymore. that razor blade trick is awsome. i plan on getting blackouts for my car. i'll have to give that try. i had a windshield banner stolen off my car and those are only like $10. some people are just a$$holes, but we just have to live with them or get revenge.

vht nightshade is a spray that you can buy from summit racing. you can apply it as dark as you'd like. its about 5 bucks a can and you can do all sorts of light tinting, like sidemarker lights, tailights and im sure there are many other uses. i used it on my tailights and they came out rather dark, and ive got a whole lot of the stuff left.
I dont know what brand covers every one else is using but i have LUND. Along the bottom of the cover is a lip that gets presed between the bottom of the lights and the bumper. Than on the top is a lip that goes betwen the lights and hatchback. When the hatchback is closed the top lip is pressed down. You cant take them off with out braking them if the hach is down. Cost $35 from local car parts guy.

I only use soap and water to get the bugs off. The niteshade is on there good. I think I remember hearing that it is really difficult to get off. Tomorrow I'm going to take some pics at nite with the lites on so everyone can see how well the lite shines thru it.
I also did the side signals, but it didn't turn out as good, I guess because the darkness of the side ones the yellow shows thru a little.
