Who knows about video compression??

I got a USB Instant Video, so I can hook my VCR up to my laptop and put a video of my car on here. When I saved the video as an AVI file using ULead Video software, a 3min clip was 57MB, for some reason I don't know how to change the audio from the uncompressed format PCM, I'm guessing that's my problem, why the file is so big. Can anyone help. For now I'm going to save it in a non AVI filename and see how it turns out.

No expert here, but maybe MPEG4 would help in trimming its size. I have entire 2 hr movies on a single CD in mp4, so 50 odd megs for 3 mins of audio/video is rather gluttonous. I would think a tenth that size in mp4 would be about right.

Mpeg4 should play back in every Windows Media Player version 6.2 and higher. The current release is version 7.

Thanks, I think I figured out how to change the audio file.

I got it down to 9.5mb . But I think I compressed just a bit too much, it's not the best quality. Whenever tripod is working I'll upload the file and post it. If I IM it to someone thru AIM, I can get it posted quicker.

It's nothing special, I went home this weekend and it rained the whole time. I did get a chance to get a couple shots with it parked and running. Next time I go home, I'll be sure to get some better shots.
