paint wheels

hey guys i have the 16x8 formula wheels i belive they are called turbo wheels or sumtin i dunno they came on my 89 formula. well the finish is comin off so i thougth i would try to polish them then clear them. little did i know its the hardest and most time consuming thing in the world lol. well this is my plan. use stripper to get the old clear off, sand with 400 grit, spray paint with grey wheel paint that is real close to original then clear the whole thing. wut do u think? do u know of any other things i can do besides get them chromed? thanks in advance

u can either spend like 50 years sanding and all that yourself or call a blasting place to get them sandblasted then send 'em off to get chromed

The factory only painted the slots, the surface of the wheel is just bare aluminum thats been clearcoated.

I think it'd cost you less than $20 to get the supplies you need to strip the wheels, repaint the inserts and spray them with a rattle can clearcoat.

Not really... if you've already started polishing one of the wheels then you'll either have to cover up what you've started, or polish them all so they match. You could have them media blasted to remove any paint/clear, etc and then shine them up a bit and have them clear coated. Or you could spend $400 for the set to be professionally refinished. Or you could replace the one wheel you started working with and start over. You're in a bit of a pickle and there's no easy way out.
