Well, I'm not anti-chrome all the time, but for this engine I'm building, I am. I'm using the new black crinkle finish valve covers, timing chain cover, and air cleaner from Proform. They are the ones on page 9 of the March-April Summit catalog. Now I need to find a Breather cap, and valve cover hold down clamps in black, because having them as the only chrome parts on the engine will look a little out of place. Anyone know where I find some in black?

Get regular chrome ones that you like the shape of and have them powdercoated to match the rest of your stuff. They've got wrinkle finish powder coat...

That's an interesting idea. What kind of pricing am I looking at, and where to look for some of those kits?Originally posted by scauffiel

i agree with you, chromed engine parts just look to cheap in my definition, the most i would do is air cleaner and maybe valve covers. I had my intake powercoated and black wrinkle finish M/T valve covers with a chevy orange block

Moroso makes breathers, valve covers and such in anodized red, blue, and gold, as well as chrome.
Milodon doesn't make a whole lot of the little parts, but their timing covers, valve covers, oil pans and such come in that cool gold irridite finish that looks really hardcore.
I'm getting red Moroso valve covers to match my paint, especially when I polish the TPI. My Milodon timing cover looks really good, but you can't see it under the water pump, pulleys, balancer, etc...

I'd just look through the yellow pages under "coatings" to find someone in your area to do it for you. It's a fairly cheap deal - however if you want to get your own rig, do a search on this site on "powdercoat" to find a popular home kit (I can't recall the name off the top of my melon right now).Originally posted by mcconahay37
