Here it is-----The Firebird's replacement

This makes me sick. I read the newspaper a few minutes ago and found out that they're bringing back the GTO. That SHOULD be a good thing, but LOOK AT IT! If they have to replace the Bird, they should do it woth a GTO, no doubt, but they shouldn't screw with the GTO's heritage and tradition and PRIDE with this ugly thing! Look:

Also the ad talks about the car comming from australia, and was org going to replace the camaro (but now the bird), there was another austrialian car that was going to replace the camaro that looked like a cavalier (now it the SSR truck).

I don't think they should bring it back the name. If they want to produce the car, thats fine, but get another name. Anything they make will just take away from the great legacy of the real muscle car.

I don't see a problem with them calling it a GTO. As I've said before the GTO was nothing but a stripped out Lemans with a big engine. The Holden with it's V8 and rear wheel drive is the first car that GM has contemplated putting the moniker on that actually give the car some of it's heritage.

Uh... a rear-wheel drive, V8 powered, 2 door vehicle that will make around 310 rear wheel horsepower will take away from the GTO heritage? You people make no sense. I think I'd rather have the new GTO than an old one, because not only would I have a powerful, American-bred muscle car, but I'd have one that will knock down 27+ mpg with the air conditioning on. Heritage has nothing to do with looking close to the predecessor. IMHO, a thirdgen does not look like a first gen Camaro. Does that mean that it's not a good vehicle to carry the name?

On that note, this is off-topic. Sorry but I gotta close.
