15" rims on 89 Formula?
15" rims on 89 Formula?
OK, I have an 89 Formula 350 that has the Borg Warner 9 bolt rear in it. The factory rims are 16 x 8. What I'm wanting to do is put a tall set of slicks on it for the track. There is a much larger selection of slicks in the 15" size than 16", so I want to put 15" rears on just at the track. Will a 15" rim clear the disc brakes on my car? I don't have an assortment of 15" wheels to try out, so I was hoping maybe someone here could just spoon feed me the answer. Thanks in advance.

Re: 15" rims on 89 Formula?
wow a 13 year old thread pops up on a google search. FYI in 1989 Firebird Formulas had the bigger caliper brakes on the rear that 87-88 didn't have. This was due to bad stoping that Gm tried to remedy. So anyone searching if a 15 rim will fit might want to check the rim on the rears first before buying a 15 inch. I have a turbo fined alloy rim fro 82 that I will be test fitting today to see if it fits on the back of my 89 formula 350.
