question bout not using centerbolt valve covers on vortec heads

is there anyway to not use center bolt valve covers on vortec heads? i thought there was an adapter kit made by gm but i couldnt find it in there catalog any help would be great thanks

yes there is one from GM parts

and I belive Summit has a kit as well

the kit i saw from gm was for center bolt style ones to fit on older heads could u maybe get me a part number thanks

That is the same part, they just wrote it up wrong in their catalog. There is only one kit made. I am currently running it on my motor. (well I was before I pulled it out) The only problem I had with it was the small o-ring seal that it uses to seal to the heads broke from the heat, and caused the oil to leak out. I don't know if the kit in the summit catalog (forgot who makes that one) is any better. I just went around it with silicone though. I may just get those chrome moroso covers to fit over my 1.6 rockers instead of messing with that thing when I put my engine back in tomorrow.

I think Barnett Performance in Atlanta is carrying the aftermarket ones now...800-533-1320, ask for Cliff (he drives a 92 GTA, and knows his stuff). They also are carrying some nice, reasonably priced aluminum centerbolt covers...plain, ball milled, or flamed. They even have tall centerbolt covers.
