I KILLED A HORSE!!! WITH MY CAR!!!!!!!

On the early morning of June 14th at 1:00AM I was heading down CR 714 in Martin County Florida, when I suddenly heard a loud bang! And for the first time I could see the front of my hood from inside my car!

This road is so dark and so remote that it took me ten minutes after the accident to even figure out what I hit! After searching, with the help from the bright lights of another car (which only come around about once every 30 minutes), I found a small black horse only about three feet off the road! (yes its that dark!) The horse is dead and thank god it is...

Now my car is impounded because I cannot afford to get it out! Its my lucky day! The car does seem easily rapairable, but still not 100% known...

I will post pics as soon as I figure out how...
Be careful out there!
Note to the moderator: I have no idea where to put this post, it seemed to fit best here. Move if you like...

LOL! Thats evil man, EVIL!

They cant exactly leave a car on side of the road. So the cops have to call someone to tow it. And since I didnt have the money to tow it, the towing company impounded it at thier lot.

And yes it will be for sale again. Doesn't seem to be to much to repair. Just one part to weld (the thing that holds the radiator and top of fenders) and a bunch of bolt on stuff... Lucky me

The radiator isnt leaking nor anything else! But it has been moved! All the mounts and air ram plastics are nothing but little plastic pieces!

Obvious parts so far are: Hood - bumber - plastic trim - headlights - headlight mount - tranny lines - fenders - anything to do with the hood - lights - front GFX - air dam - radiator mounts - possibly fan assembly - and as you can see in the pic in the last post, the white metal bar thing that goes across the front is bent in about 4 inches!

LOL! My car needs horses, just not that kind!
I couldnt drive it home because the hood was over the windshield! The electric fan is hitting the pullys and the tranny lines are bent (dont want to burn everything up)!

that sucks man. looks fixable. do you have full coverage or are you paying for this out of pocket? both of my rides are liability only, so if i do anything besides get hit i am screwed.

i ran over a racoon ( a freaking HUGE *** racoon) with just my rear end ontime,. near as i can tell it ran out and under my rear tire, missing the front. i never hit it with the front. which means the racoon was hauling ***, cause i was doing 45 MPH. car was fine, racoon was a little less fortunate. well, alot less fortunate actualy. it was dead. i pushed it off the road with my hatch/hood prop. (used to need one, now the struts work)

sucks about the horse too. hope it was not somones pet or somthing. probably some little girl crying herself to sleep somwhere

Yep! It was the family pet! And they, I **** you not, have 12 kids! I think Im going to hell!

As for coverage, Im in the same boat as you. But Florida law makes it thier fault! Their property on a public highway, so they will have to eventually pay for everything. I hope to keep it out of court. But hopfully it gets done fast because the tow company will scrap my car after so many days! So its all still in the air, who know what will happen. Glad to hear you made it out of that racoon mess. I have hit many things on that road. I **** you not, that Ive even hit an aligator (not in the camaro though)!

are they going to pay to get it out of impound? don't you have someone you can borrow some dough from?

i while back i sold my V6 car, (got it back, long story)
but when by buddy bought it i told him that if he ever got it impunded i would put up the dough to get it out, he could pay me back, or i would keep the car. that was the deal, i loved my car too much to let it be sold at auction or crushed, even though it was not mine. the reason he neede the car was that his prior one had been impounded and he never bohered to get it out

anyway, good luck getting your car back. it would be a shame if a heritage eddition were to be crushed or auctioned off for somthing like this.

How did you not see a horse in the road? Were your lights not on or something?

Hitting a raccoon or a deer running in friont of you is one thing, but a horse man? Come on, were you asleep?

The horse sh** splattered on the damaged parts will be nice to work with when you decide to fix it. I hit a deer a couple of years ago in my 89RS and it basically did the same damage, sh** and all.

What was a horse doing in the road in the first place? It's not like it's a wild animal. Did it escape from its pasture?

I really feel bad for the car and the horse, but the car is fixable. Good luck with all your repairs!!!

If they don't pay up soon, no one will be able to afford to get that car out of the pound. Were talking big bucks. I know it's hard, but if you have to pick up and attorney for this, you might need to muscle them into paying.

While you're rebuilding the front end, you should probably invest in some better headlights. Apparently the old ones aren't working that well...

Listen it was very dark! You cannot see anything on this road until its to late. And yes the headlights do suck! The horse was smaller than a full grown deer, you can see a deer, not a black horse! Even if I did see it in time there was nowhere to go. The road has trees for a shoulder.

The horse got out because the kids left the gate open after parking the 4 wheelers. (they think)

ooow, that had to scare the hell out of you.

it looks plenty repairable, not going to be cheep to replace that radiator support, thats for sure.

it makes me sad to see that to such a nice car, a guy down the street from my work has a 92 RS those same exact colors, and its beautiful.

If you want to know what the horse looks like, open a can of vienna sausage!

Thanks for wishin the luck, I need it...
The peoples insurance just ran out before the accident! So its all on them to pull the cash out of thier pocket... This is no good for both of us! Since they dont have money and it will take time... Thank god at least the storage fees stopped, Id never get my car back!

it looks plenty repairable, not going to be cheep to replace that radiator support, thats for sure.

it makes me sad to see that to such a nice car, a guy down the street from my work has a 92 RS those same exact colors, and its beautiful.
Yes it did scare the hell out of me! Just crusin down the road and instantly my hood is covering my windshield!

As for that metal thingy, Ive got a welder who owes my family some labor.
They call it a Heritage Edition (Z03), the ones that came with the stripes.

Dang Bro, that sucks. I live on The Martin County/St Lucie border, I've been on that road many times and while I've seen some wierd roadkill, I've yet to see the buzzards flying around a dead horse...

That road is severly tree lined, Its actually like a canopy over your head...The darker it is out, its just gonne be that much darker on 714...

I never even got to see the car around here! Let me know if I can do anything to help you get the car back and back on the road!
