Power locks don't work!

You can hear the solenoid turning and the lock moves a little but not enough. Is this a common thing? What do I need to fix it? Seems like (without removing the door trim) that a piece has worn down, must be like a little cam.

Any ideas?

Hi ZZ42Fast

This happened to my firebird about 6 months ago. What I did was to lubricate all the moving parts of the lock mechanism. I also needed to remove the door trim. I used WD40 which worked ok, but when I posted about this people recommended that I use lithium grease.

See ya

what i find works best is to first liberally apply wd40 to the latch assembly, so much so that a stream of wd40 flows out of the door drain holes at the bottom of the door shell. then later apply white lithium grease.

Mine do this too, but it's a real pita removing those damn door covers.

Last time I did mine I just used WD40 but after a while it started sticking again. Next time I'm freeing it up with WD40 and then smearing lithium grease over it. Do your windows stick too? Mine did. Bloody door panel off for those irritations too!!!

89FirebirdUK,

Where abouts in the UK are you?

Regards

Robert

How you doing ? I'm in Surrey, near Gatwick Airport. Where abouts are you ?

While I had the door panel off I also sprayed the window mechanism too. Like I said I used WD40 and it lasted so far !

Felix,

I'll mail you in the next day or so and try to arrange an event to meet up at.
