Front Nose Swap

I have an 89 T/A and the front nose is a little scratched and dinged up. I would like to put the front nose from a 91-92 T/A on my 'bird if I could. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have the know how to know if it can be done? Thanks.

Ive looked into going the other way, so I know it should fit. The only problem is finding one. $600 for a new one is a bit too much.

Have you looked at thirdgenresource.com? Look here:

You can get a used one and paint it. That might be cheaper than what you had mentioned earlier.

I just finished the swap and here are a few points of interest:

1) The 91-92 style front won't match up w/ your current gfx--not a bit problem as long as you don't care about looks.

2) You'll need the entire front clip--bumper reinforcement, headlight assemblies, and wiring for the lights (the connectors are different).

All in all it gets to be very expensive, unless you find a donor car.

If you don't mind me asking how much did your conversion cost? Also, do you have any pics? What if I don't have GFX, will everything line up then? Thanks.

Here's mine, it's an 88. My Bro had a couple donor cars. The pic is kinda old, the car is still in storage. (Still not allowed to drive yet)
The front is off a 92 if i remember correctly.

If you can find one used, the shipping will cost a mint. Not to mention that everyone is asking a fortune for them.

If I remember right, you will have to consider the following:
The headlights are smaller in 91 & 92, and the bezel the goes around them is different. You can use a 82-90 Headlight but the bezel will not fit because of the lip on the bottom. You wil have to replace the bezel to the 91-92 style, BUT the bezel will not fit the 82-90 style. So in short you will have to replace the actual moving parts on the lights to get everything trimmed correctly.

The wiring harness is different, for the parking lights, (as mentioned before)

there are also some other misc things that you will need...

I beilive the T/A is the same as the base firebird with the aero Package with ground effects You will find more 91-92 firebirds than Trans Ams. Formulas never came with gfx..

hope that helps a little...
