I need new seats in my car, I talked to the shop and they said about $500 a seat to get it back to normal. so I was thinking about maybe making some leather ones just to try it out. is there any place/thing that will give me a start. and also is there anyplace to buy the leather? thanks

check out this site before you do anything:
www.autoupholstrykits.com, I just bought new upholstry for my T-A from them and it is very nice ($298.00) for all four seats, they even give you a tool for putting the clips (hog rings) back on the new upholstry. I know they sell leather but I don't know how much.

P.S. I checked with a shop and was told $500.00 for all four seats. I think you are getting ripped off.

 

it's not just the upholstery that's often worn out on thirdgens. is not uncommon to find the back of the seat frame is bent too.

see here is the deal, I have the air bags in my seats. well the have this plastic that moves, and if they just covered it up, then $500 for the front 2, but to get the JUST LIKE the original they pretty much have to disassemblem the WHOLE thing and rebuild. so thats' why its expensive.
