Joe,
I just sent you scans from my HELMS 88 Camaro Manual showing how to diagnose & repair the hatch pull-down unit. I also sent you a price list and the instructions from my hatch guide kit. Let me know if you need further help or any repair items.

Does yours not even try to move, or will it just not come up? Mine just broke (had to be pulled up) and I fixed it. When looking at it from above with the panel off, you'll see 2 screws on the left side of it that hold it in place. They screw into a plastic piece. The plastic broke on mine, so I ghetto-rigged it with a 1/4" screw and some nuts. Motor stays in place perfectly now.
