How to fix 91 TA hadlight motors?
I've had to rebuild one of my headlight motors on my 87. Would they be the same from year to year? What exactly is your problem, anyhow? If it's no movement, then either 1)something's seized 2)the windings are shot or 3) needs new brushes.
If it'll start running if you "help" it along by lifting the light gently, then it's likely just seized up. Remove the whole assembly, wash every metal part down in varsol or something similar, then reassemble using a high quality lube.
If it just won't go, then it's either brushes or the windings are gone. Take the thing apart, noting how it comes apart. If the brushes seem worn off, then just get a new set of brushes, attach to the wires, and put back in place. If the brushes are there and contacting alright, then it may be the windings. Get handy with a multimeter and test the resistance of the windings on the spinning part of the motor. If they have low resistance, you're fine. If it's high or nonexistant, you're screwed. Try to get a replacement from a wrecker, because a new one from GM isi ~200 bucks, IIRC. i
