I got an estimate for some body work on my GTA this afternoon. There's minor rust in several places ("A" pillar, above the fender, etc..) and some major rust in a few unnoticable places (inner fenderwell, etc..). There's so many places I'd really need to ge the whole car repainted too. I was quoted $4k Canadian for the job. Sounds kinda high to me but I'm new at this. I'll get a second opinion obviously, but it doesn't hurt to ask... What do you think? Thanks.

I had an estimate done on my car before winter to get it painted and the guy said at least $3500 with a color change and i have a little rust on the A pillar and the fenders, plus a dent in the quarter panel, i mentioned shaved door handles as well, but depending on how bad your car really is, i don't think it is that far off to be honest.
hope i helped

I had rust on the thin part of the body above windshield but in front of T-Tops, Rust behind T-Tops on roof, paint flaking and light rust in spots all over, hood installed, 4th gen spoiler installed, wet sanded, and buffed for $5,000 even and he takes care of me now if I need something fixed (unfortunetally I have screwed it up allready , but fixed it)

a cute little blonde backed into my 67 Riv, it cost $4000, to repaint my ride it will cost $6000.
To repaint my 87 Formula to its current condition would cost about $5000. 4K for a really good job is very reasonable. That is assuming they sand everything flat and you get a Show car finish. If your going for a showroom finish you can go to Maaco, but it probably will not last. Maaco is good for when your going to sell a car not keep it.
in Short $3000 US / $4000 Canadian is a fair deal for a nice paintjob

Well I intend to get a second estimate first anyway (I'd be stupid not to) but it sounds like this guy knows what he's doing. He said it'd look just like it did from the factory. All of the ground effects pulled and painted seperately, pulling the windshield, repairing the rusted panels, etc.. He did say that a new spoiler would be extra though.
I also forgot to mention the rust under the rear deck (Why the hell did that rust anway?). Maybe I'll wait until he's finished with that red '88 GTA he had sitting in the lot and see how it turns out...
Thanks for the info guys, any more advise would be great.

"From the factory" is not quite good enough for me, I like that polished glass looking paint
