why doesn't this fit

84 car, 92 hood-- why doesn't it match.

My guess is that either your car or the 92 had collision work and wasn't put back where it belongs.

Axle/Gears: 8.8 rear, 4.56 gears, 4:1 transfer
Nosecones were differant in '84 compared to a '92 one. in fact there was 4 differant nosecones available depending on what year/options.

Well to me it looks like it lines up with the outer edge of the nose, so if you moved it forward to line up with the middle of the nose, then it wouldnt line up with the outer edges of the nose. I'm thinking the car has been smacked, like said before. The hoods should swap w/no problem.

You've just got to look at everyting carefully and you will find your answer. On my 89 Gta there was about a .5 inch gap where the fender sat out farther than the leading edge of the door. Turns out that when the previous owner had work done on the car the shop jacked it up right where the fender bolts to the underside of the car and bent the mounting flange outwards, pushing the fender out.
