So I was talkin to my dad and I was like "dad, I've got this sweet idea for when I get my car repainted....since I need a new hood, I want to get a SS hood and put a black stripe in the ram air part" and he was like "You dont need to spend $3000 on a $2000 car, just get the front end and bumper repainted, fix the hood and paint it where the paint is falling off and call it good." Well, needless to say, that isn't gonna happen. I take PRIDE in my car, and I'd kill a kitten (yes, a kitten! )before I did that paint idea. So to get on the subject, does anyone make a SS bolt on that makes your hood look like an SS without having to buy a whole hood. It would be cheaper, I would be happy, he would be happy, and the kittens would live . Any help is appricaited, and :hail: all those who help me.

PS...here is what I'm talking bout on the painting idea...exept gunmetal gray car w/ a black stripe.

Let me get this straight .... you found a bolt on piece to make a stock hood look like the SS hood? Kind of like we can get blisters from a 91-92 and bolt them on our hoods? You HAVE TO let me know if you find these!!!! :hail:

I have the same damn problem with my parents (and I spent $4000 on my car!, and I always pay whetever I want done myself!, grr....)

luckily it's only a few monthes until I am 18

where do you get this idea that it is going to cost $3000?

American Sports Car Design (http://www.americansportscar.com), the people who make the SS Hoods only charge $485 for the hood itself, and right now they have free shipping!

Now putting the hood on is a fairly simple process, just unbolt the old one and bolt the new one on, (can easily be done in one day), and then take it to the nearest maaco or earl scheib and have it painted to match the car, shouldn't be more than $300 (make sure you get at least the 3 year warantee - if possible), and then find someone to do the stripe for you (cost varies...can't be too bad though), sounds more like $785 (at most) to get the hood and have it painted, and then whatever for the stripe.

If it helps, explain to them what a rediculous amount of money they spent on their car(s), and how this Hood Upgrade makes your car more valuable, and desirable, so essentially this $2000 car becomes a $2785 car,

I don't know how badly your car is messed up, but if it is just the front nose, you might as well just replace it yourself, with a used one....and then have it painted at the same time as the hood.

I say, one night, you got out and park the car out in the front yard, jack it up, take off the wheels, and put blocks under it, then when they parents wake up in the morning to the car sitting out in the yard, they will have to let you get it, unless they want it sitting out there forever.

Na, just kidding, but it's an idea. My parents would just laugh at me if I did it because I have to drive my car, so I would only be hurting myself until I moved it again.

But, som Aircraft stripper in remote places all over the car would prove the need for painting the whole car. I don't suggest leaving it too long, just enough so it takes off the clear and maybe a little color.. dont want to hurt the primer. I don't really suggest that idea, but it could work if your desperate enough.

My dad was exagerating when he said $3000, he was just trying to make a point. I need to paint the front, bumper, and hood, and I have a friend who does it professionally and owes my dad and I a favor for all the comp work my dad and I have done and said he would discount the paint job for me as payment for the computer work. I would like to reshoot the clearcoat too, just to make everything match, and not have parts brighter than the rest of the car. Here are pics of what I need painted.

Front end (in all the pics I post I have fixed the front so it doens't look like crap, but this is the real front) Oh ya, I need to paint the front GFX too, and also there are chips all over the car, especially in the back by the right tire.

I dont know how well this shows off the side damage since it is a top pic, but it'll have to work for now. The hood doesn't look bad, but it also buckled a bit and sticks out over the side of the car, you can see it when I drive past even. And the side, depending on if it is cracked or not, I might be able to keep it and just strip it and repaint it.

This one shows the drivers side GFX decently, and the other side is the same, if not worse.
