manual -> power window conversion
manual -> power window conversion
if anyone is interested, i've got a rough draft of a tech article documenting how to convert a car with manual crank windows into a car with power windows avaliable at:

Looks good, very well documented! I only see a problem with one line, near the top:
Not quite so. If you pop open an '84 door, and compare the internals of it to an '86 door, you'll see different door internals. However, ALL of the mounting holes are there.
From memory, the front guide was different. On the '84 door, you know the window fill panel? (black triangle) That's incorporated into the front channel. On my '86 door, the fill panel is separate. I think there was also something up with the centermost channel, too.
I'm not sure about '85 doors, since I haven't poked into them. But you might want to make a note of it on your website. I'll see if I have any of the old '84 door hardware lying around, and I'll take a pic of it with my pencam. I can't remember why I moved all the hardwar... OH! Yes I do. The fill panels were shot on the '84 doors. I wanted to use the ones from my '86 doors, and had to swap everything. All the '86 internals bolted into the '84 doors without problems.
The tracks inside the door and all other hardware inside the door are the same on 1982-1992 f-bodies regardless of whether they are power window equippped or not.

ok, thanks for the tip.
does anyone else have other constructive criticism about this writeup?
would like to make the article as accurate and informative as possible. any help would be appreciated.

what was meant by the above statement was that except for the regulator, an 86' door with manual crank windows would have all the same internals as an 86' door with power windows.
did not mean that except for the regulator, a 92' door with manual crank windows would have all the same internals as an 82' door with power windows.
are year to year changes to the door internals, but apparently the regulators will interchange among all 1982-1992 f-bodies.
