headliner help

I have just removed my headliner and have a couple of questions before recovering it.

Two of the three metal clips that hold the front of the board up riped off. The middle clip is still on. Is this enough? If not, can I reatach the other clips?

My board has some cracking, but I think it is in good enough shape to reuse. Could someone explain how to reinforce it with fiberglass? I have never used the stuff.

I bought 3M Foam Fast 74 spray adhesive. It is suposed to bond foam to other materiels. The only other stuff I saw was HeadsUp headliner adhesive, but it looked cheap. Do you think the 3M will do the job?

Yes, it's enough, and yes you can re-attatch the clips. It's hard to explain, but a body shop or headliner shop should be able to tell/show you how.

Go buy some fiberglass resin and fiberglass cloth from Wal-Mart, auto parts stores, or boat supplies store. Make sure you've brushed ALL of the old glue, dust and crap from the headliner board. Use some light spray adhesive and stick the fiberglass cloth to the board; cut pieces to fit, try to keep wrinkles to a minimum. Mix up the resin and included hardener according to instructions IN A CONTAINER YOU DON"T MIND THROWING AWAY, and brush it on WITH A BRUSH YOU DON"T MIND THROWING AWAY. Soak all the cloth and let it cure for a few hours to a day (depending on ambient temperature and humidity. Then repeat for a second layer.

Probably not. Get some Contact Adhesive from a hardware store and a spray device you can pour it into. Use can use a paint sprayer, or those spray bottles with the disposable propellant bottles.

Make sure every bit of the old glue is off and the surface is clean. And let both sides tack properly before you bond them. Patience!
