Easy to weatherstrip?
Easy to weatherstrip?
Im gonna have the whole car repainted so im thinking nows the time to get the weatherstripping done as soon as it gets painted. Have any of you guys done this? Ive seen many of kits on the net for about $150.00 and am thinking of going ahead with it. Hard, easy, pain in the ****?
And for some stupid reason i put another topic question below this one.

You can sometimes find headliners on eBay. New are about $150 and you can install them yourself. As for weatherstripping, I dunno how they are to install, I've never done it. Good luck though

dunno about the whole car, but i just put the weatherstripping around the passenger side window, puting it in is not hard, but geting the old stuff out (thats been there for 18 years...) is a pain
but worth it

A-1 auto usually has pretty good prices on softseal weatherstripping. You can always find them selling it on E-Bay. You can buy it on their Web Site too, but you always get a better deal on it when you use E-Bay. These guys ship very quick too!

I've done the weatherstrips around the doors (but not the hatch), and it was a really easy job. There's only 3 pieces per door (including the short filler near the door mirrors).
There's a screw (or two) to undo at the start/finish points, the one for the door strip is under the inside trim, so thats a bit tricky. Otherwise I just pulled the strip off complete with the plastic poppers, and only had a modicum of strip left to scrape off manually.
I applied some strip adhesive puttin the new ones on (so *** help the guy in 10-15 years time who gets to take these off!), and just popped the inserts into the holes.
Whole job took under two hours. Just try to do it in the garage, or when you think it's not gonna rain in the middle of the job.
Final note. I would have kept the orginal filler pieces, as this takes an age to bed into the frame strip. I also had to slam the doors shut for a couple of weeks.
