Camera/ Police evasion with thirdgens! Good idea!

You know how the rear no. plate flaps open so you can unnlock the trunk? How about attaching a servo mechanism to it so that when you want to drive hard, you can flick a switch and presto- no number plate! (license plate) I know it would come in handy over here with the relentless speed traps and cameras!

Just an idea!

I can only imagine what the fine for that would be , lmao

I'm sure you could get away with it for a long time until one day a unmarked police car was behind you , lol

It sounds like a cool idea but I know here in AZ, you can get into more trouble with it.

1. If you get caught, you get into big trouble, obviously.
2. If it malfunctioned and went down, the cops here pull you over for the plate being down.

Now with that being said, we actually did this some years back but not with a servo. We installed a cable that all you did was push the cable in and the plate went down. It was fun back in our young and stupid days.

NOTE**If anybody is wondering, it was not my car that we did this on.

Also being one of the only IROC's in my area, and the only one with 'In your face' quad DTM exhaust tips- it wouldn't take them long to hunt me down

I drove around for almost a week with my license plate down

But you could put something like this over your plates

you can see the plate when you are directly behind it, but at an angle, the numbers get blurred out.

I think that if a cop did actually pull you over and you had one of these, they would be much less likely to let you off with a warning.

In 18 years I have left the plates down many times (no inside trunk release)... pulled over twice for it. No trouble just oops.

I've actually been pulled over just for having the light burned out that lights your license plate at night. I just got a warning of course, but really...

When I first bought my car, I had red licence plate lights. I got pulled over and the cop was seriously going to give me a ticket. I had no idea they were even on there. I got lucky because he was called away to another location. I can't believe that bastard was actually going to give me a ticket.

I got pulled over for my plate being down/open once. Genuine mistake too. The cop was more interested in how fast the car was and the interesting colour. He didn't even notice my tax disc was out of date!

on a camaro don't you fill up the gas tank behind the liscense plate too?(i have a firebird, wouldn't know) I mean it just doesn't seem like all that great for an electrical device to operateby a fuel filler neck(except for an electric fuel pump of course, but they're made for it) on little spark when your filling your tank and there goes the neighborhood

What the heck are you camaro guys talking about? The license plate being "down"? What does that mean? Off? Sorry, I'm a firebird owner.
