painting front bumper cover
Well, I rear-ended somebody a few years ago and it didn't do too much damage to my RS, but the nose was cracked in a few places. Can't really see it unless you're close. Also, the air dam
(lower bumper extension?) has been chewed up pretty good since I lowered the car.
Anyway, I finally bought a new bumper cover and air-dam and a
guy I know at the local dealership is painting them for me today (off the car). He says $250 including materials.
Does that sound like a reasonable price?
I'll put them on as soon as I get back from Reno (Hot August Nights) next week.
Any input appreciated.

I recently paid $368 and change for the same thing. I bought the parts and took them in. They were also supposed to do "Paintless" dent removal to the car. I dropped it off Wednesday. Called Friday morning as he told me to. Discovered that the paintless dent repair guy had called in sick for 2-days.
So I didn't have it fixed for a Car Show that Saturday. Also when I went to p/u the nose piece and spoiler they had scuff-sanded the headlight pockets to paint them black. I'd requested them to remain white. I changed my mind and let them keep it and paint it black Monday, but I was pissed. I put the stupid bra back on and took it to the show. Lon

Something I forgot to mention. I have a new product coming out shortly that you may want to put on the underside of the new spoiler. It is called a "Spoiler Saver" TDS p/n 203120. It consists of two 16 gage 304 stainless steel strips. They have holes to mount where the 87-90 IROC & Z28's and 88-90 RS have sheet matal brackets that attach to the plastic air scoop. 85-86 IROC & Z28's will have to drill the holes in their front spoiler. Two different mounting versions. 203120-1 uses the same large flange Pop-Rivets as GM used to attache those brackets, only these are 18-8 ss. 203120-2 uses a 18-8 ss Truss-head Phillips screw and a U-nut to attach it. Slip the U-nuts onto the brackets, then install it with the screws. I discovered the regular hand-operated pop-rivet guns aren't enough to pull-up the stems of the ss Pop-Rivets to snap them off. Hence the second mounting version. If you have access to a pneumatic Pop-Rivet gun or the style with long handles, then the Pop-Rivet version looks a lot cleaner. The backside of the strips has an adhesive foam tape for ease of installation. This should go a long way towards preventing damage to the front spoilers from driveway approaches and speed-bumps. Lon

Picked up painted parts after work yesterday.
They look great and the guy gave me 2 pints of paint also.
They're sitting on the Nova's hood right now, but as soon as I get back from Reno (Hot August Nights) I'll put them on.
The rest of the car is still in good shape from the last paint job.
The factory paint started flying off in big chunks when I was washing it one day (at about 100,000 miles). GM wouldn't warrantee it because of mileage, but as luck would have it, I got sideswiped in a rainstorm by a commercial van and they ended up painting the whole car ($4500). That was about four years ago
, and the paint still looks great (PPG Deltron), except where I rear-ended the pickup truck (the nose).
lonsal: will that fit a 92 RS? E-mail me some info if you can.
Thanks,

There will be a version for the 91-92 Z28/RS as well. But it is a HUGE piece by comparison. Nearly 2.5" wide. The one I already described is closer to .75" wide. So there is a big difference between the two in the mat'l cost. I'm working on the prototype pieces now. Lon
