Other seats besides 4th gen in a 3rd Gen

Ok, my seats are pretty torn um and I want to get them replaced. I called all the salvage yards around hear and none of them have a set of 3rd or 4th gen seats. In fact, at least here in the Twin Cities(MN) I can't find any 3rd gen parts. So my question is, has anybody tried putting seats in from a diffrent car? I realize the back seat would have to be out of a camaro, but what about the fronts? Maybe a Z24 or MonteCarlo/Grand Prix? Has anybody tried this?

it would benefit you to do a search.

but i do know seats from cavaliers 82-87 will bolt up for sure, as the seats from my 86 cav hatchback had different fabric, but the frames were identical to the seats in my 84 camaro.

buckets from 82-93 s10's should bolt up, as my 88 s10's buckets lok like the standard camaro seats, albeit in a different fabric. they have that tacky "truck" fabric that came as part of the sport package. but, the seats are clean, so they're staying.

most of the thirdgens discussed here are daily drivers, not show cars. as long as the front seat color is the same as the back, a mismatched fabric pattern doesn't matter too much to most people.

when salvage yard shopping, grab the two front seats even if you really only need the drivers.

Grand Prix seats are too wide. (At least '88 and similar.) Ask me how I know

C4 Corvette seats look great once you get the seat tracks mounted.
