91 RS front spoiler question
91 RS front spoiler question
I am repairing some tears and holes in the lower front spoiler and see that some previous repair person has been there (left only 8 of 18 bolts installed).
Question: On the inside lower 'ledge' or lip in the middle of the spoiler there are 6 holes; Is there supposed to be some sort of flat metal stiffener plate there? Or possibly a plastic panel that goes back and connects someplace? Or is there not supposed to be anything there at all?
Right now, the middle of the spoiler sags down and has worn heavily. I am thinking a missing part might have raised this up.
Any help greatly appreciated!

I cut out three thin layers of lexan in a sort of boomerang shape and pop-riveted them inside that lower lip of the lower front spoiler (I used a sheet of window plastic and cut the shapes out with a bandsaw). That really added some structural integrity.
I picked up some of 3M's flexible bumper repair epoxy. Great stuff but pricey (about $26 for a kit--but one kit should be plenty).

Yep, that's exactly the picture I needed! Thanks!
I really hate it when people leave out parts. Too much trouble I guess. Having that loose lower edge really tore up the bottom edge of the spoiler.

Well....i'm missing some bolts on mine too, bu I think its from too many close shaves when parking the nose over curbs. The plastic sheet that slopes down in front of the ac condenser came loose all the time and scuffed against the pavement while driving. There were no holes left to put the bolts into after a while, so I just used some small guage chain and rivets to chain it just nehind the front lower spoiler.
But I'm with you. Mine looks like crap. I plan on repainting it here in a few weeks
