'88 Firebird Dash in an '88 Camaro?

Same color, but will it fit? My Camaro's is shot, and I found an '88 bird with a beautiful dash in the local junkyard for $50.

Are you talking about the whole dash or just the dash pad?
The dash pad is different between the camaro and firebird. The whole dash will fit, but there will be alot of work involved. You will need the heater box, all the ac/heater ducts. The speedo in the firebird is probably electronic where as your camaro is probably mech. (someone check me on this if they know for sure).
If so you will need the stuff off the trans to put on your car. The harnesses are different I would guess so you will need to get the harness and splice it in your car (figuring out which wire goes where is the hard part). I don't know if the camaro console will line up correctly with the firebird dash? If not you may have go with a firebird console/radio pod.

No, it's just the dash pad... damn, it won't work?

Where can I get a new one, then?

Have you tried searching the classifieds? There's usually some available in there.

Isn't the Camaro dash pad a bit flatter at the edges? The Firebird dash pad might curve downward at the sides, and upward in the middle.

Tell the guy you want to try it on your car before you buy it... drive your car up with no dashpad. If it doesn't fit you don't buy it, that simple. Make sure he knows up front that you've got a Camaro and the pad is from a Firebird. If he says "no way", he's a jerk.

the 'bird dash pad is actually about two inches shorter, and it doesn't have provisions for the air ducts in the center of the dash that us camaro owners got. The dash pad will not fit, sorry...

Just keep looking, you'll find one.

FYI - last time I checked, GM still made these, with a price tag of around $400 bucks, so your best bet is to find one from boneyard, classifieds, or check ebay, I think there up to $115 or something there, they sell quick on ebay!

I see tons of Camaro dash pads in yards, keep looking, 50 is fair price for a nice one...
