Removing and Installing Door Locks

I have a Trans Am parts car and a Firebird car that i'm putting the parts on. Currently I need to put on the doors to my firebird. However, I need to change the locks to my Firebird ones. How would i go about doing this after I take off the interior panel? Help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Also, I cracked my ground effects what can i use to seal the tears and cracks?

Okay, now that you have your door panel off, make a slit in the plastic to reach your arm through. Have a droplight handy to see own into the door through the window crack. Reach your hand up toward the key lock mechanism. There is a small lever up there with a plastic bushing. You will also see a U shaped clip that serves to hold in the lock itself. It is a cylinder about 3/4" diam by about 1" high. Remove the U clip by applying pressure to it with a screwdriver or a set of needle nose. Have your magnet handy to catch it when it drops. Next, remove the plastic bushing and the pushrod from the lock. Be careful not to break it the plastic. Reverse the process to reassemble it with your new locks. Hope that helps!

actuators and bellcrank are riveted to the door shell, so you'll need a set of punches and an electric drill.

more info on this topic is avaliable at:

Between these two posts you should be able to figure out what you needed. The fellow above me took it that you were wanting to swap actuators. I was talking about the key locks themselves.

Dont ever let it be said I never searched.

That U piece is really stuck in there good though.

Anybody have anymore advice on how to remove the lock cylinders.

Oh and, while I am inside the door. What kind of housekeeping should I be doing?
