Interior Parts

So here's what up...my center console lid is falling apart. the plastic is cracked, so it cannot hold the screws in, plus the foam top is coming off due to usage.

So I went to the dealer to see about this part. Here's what they say...Dealer Price: $208.00 (shipping included). :nono: I tell them that I'll try the junk yard first.

Local junk yards have nothing, some don't even have 3rd Gens. I tried JunkYardDog.com, I got one response with a $50 grey lid, I need black.

So I searched online tried all of the thirdgen.org sponsers. HAWKS was the only one to have it, and heres what they say...HAWKS Price: $181.00 (shipping is $10.00)

Am i nuts? I realize that the part i'm looking for is for a 92 but, this thing is the size of my keyboard and it's made of plastic and foam...why so much?

Anyways, I'm wondering if any of you guys know where I can find 3rd Gens parts along with my interior center console lid for cheaper then HAWKS?

There's a ton of those new and used on Ebay, if you wait a week or so, you'll find one and a lot cheaper than those numbers.

I had sticker shock too when I wanted to replace my lid, I found that I was money ahead to just by the whole new console (since mine was in bad shape). I got it from nextgenparts.com for about 240.00 and it cam with the 180.00 lid, so if you figure it right I only paid 60.00 for the console which is like ten times the size of the lid. (GO FIGURE ????). they charge alot for the lids because every third gen I know of has the same problem, bad lids.

Buy the grey one, get some black interior paint and wala! Black lid.

It really works well with the vinyl material those lids are made out of. My fourth gen lid looks like it came black. I'll attach a pic. This is about hmm.....4 months after paint. Look black enough?

ebay always seems to have the hard to find parts for cheap..

yeah those console lids (a.k.a armrest number 2) are expensive when bought new. my firebird has a mint one (thank g0d)..

the only problem is that those console lids take a bit of force to open and shut, i never understood why).

I paid $96 after shipping for my whole '99 t/a center console on ebay. It would bolt right onto your car. Any 82-02 firebird console, or any 93-02 camaro console would too...

Just a thought...

UPDATE!!!!!

Ok, so here what happened in the last month.

I searched eBay like a crazy looking for a lid without and imperfections. Eventually I found one, but I had to but the entire center console, so I did. Including shipping it came to $51.00. Well, I put on my "new" lid, and put my old, broken lid back on the console. I then put the whole console, now with my lid, back on eBay for sale. Sold! For how much you ask? $57.00! So to sum everything up...I got paid to fix my lid!!!
