What can I do about my fenders...(pics)
What can I do about my fenders...(pics)
I have a 1986 IROC-Z, which has been an ongoing project for 2 years. Now it's the time for me to get motivated and get it shaped up like my first '86 IROC (pristine, original condition). After I wrecked my first IROC, this one came along for $700. The interior is in great condition, but unfortunatly the car was previously in a fender bender, and the front was replaced. I believe it was just the urathane pieces, hood, and fender that were replaced... because, I can tell no damage or repair to the "framing" those pieces bolt on to.
The hood has proper spacing to the fenders and nose, but my problem is the fenders, and how they come together with the ground effects. Do these fender's look correct for a IROC-Z? I was under the impression the only fender's for thirdgen that were diff., were 91-92 fenders. So what can I do, to get the ground effect and fender to meet flush?
BTW, yes I am ashamed of how dirty my car is

BTW, the passenger side could probably be gotten away with by screwing it down "as is", but the driver side is the main concern. It requires some effort to push it into the fender.

Now it is running way rich and won't pass e-check...but it's ok, my interface should be here tomarrow to link it up with my laptop and run Craig Moates software. Here's a pic of the interior attached....yes it's dirty too (believe me, I used to keep it emaculate), but I haven't really driven it since spring (besides when I drove it here when I moved in June). However I start it and let it run about once a week or so....I have an interesting story of how I came across this car, if anyone wants to hear it...LoL

Here is how you can correct you fender fit problem;
Remove the Z28 badges, and the two attaching screws behind them.
Clean all of the debris from between the fender and ground effects.
Now loosen the fender attaching bolts at the very bottom of the fender. The bottom of the fender should now relax, and you will be able to adjust it into the position you desire.
Reinstall the two screws that attach the ground effects to the fender. You may need to drill new holes for the screws into the fender.
