HEAD liner

I read the technical article on Headliner Repair and have a few questions. I hear that the 3M Spray Adhesive isn't very good, are there other options for glue. It says to get the head liner material at Jo-ann Fabrics is that a national chain and how does the "flame red" color match up??

Any other tips?

Thanks

I also want to know how to get the headliner to stick. I tried using the 3m headliner adhesive and it wosent worth the 10 bucks a can. I made sure everything was real clean and put tons of glue on it and it only held up for about 2 days.

If anyone has succesfully made there headliner stick i would appreciate there sugestions.

Make sure you spray both sides of what you are glueing. Let it set up and get tacky. Then put both pcs together. Make sure you do not spray to much on backing. It will come through the cloth.

Ive used multiple 3m adhesives. They dont hold up to the much heat. I had a local upholstory shop do it for $50 (material included) He used a water based glue. It looks like new.

I did one on my 86 T-top and 88 GTA hardtop. No problems. I think the key is to take your time. Before you start make sure you alot yourself enough time as not to rush. Remember, upolstery shops are professionals and know all the little tricks.

I've had mine up for about a year now... used the 3M Interior Adhesive in the white can w/ red letters. Paid $10 for it and I still have a lot left. Just make sure you use a lot of the stuff and cover every inch of new headliner.

Not sure if its much different but I went to Napa and got the spray stuff to lay my padding and carpet down and it works great.
