Seat leaning back too far

Due to my height, I have to lay my seat back to keep my head off my headliner. I am also a big guy, so I put a lot of weight on the seat back when it's reclined that far. I have noticed a slight steepening of the seat angle, but thought that it was in my head. A few weeks ago, I tried to move the back all the way forward, and at it's fully upward position, it's still a few inches farther back than the pass side. Is there any way I can take the seat apart and bang it back into shape, or would it be a better idea to get a new seat?

I would just give it a try, but since this is the drivers seat I don't want the metal to suddenly give out, and have my seat back drop while I'm going 70mph on a crowded freeway. Thanks for any ideas you might have!

I'd suggest taking the seat out and inspecting it closely. I'm in the prosess of restoring my 83. The side seat adjustment bracket was broken and so was the seat frame in two other locations. Not to hard to fix if you have access to a welder.

the guy I bought my Camaro from welded them....snapped on the drive home. I suggest new/used seats.

Hey viperwsu!

I am having the same problem. I think I am going to have to break down and buy new brackets. If you find a good place to buy them, let me know. I guess it sucks being 6'5"!!!

I am in the PNW too. GO HUSKIES!!! :hail:

C U at the next apple cup. I'll be on the winning side.
