They are probably just wear spots...

You could always put seat covers on.

If you scrub ast wear spots, it will just make it worse....

What I've heard is to use a mild cleaner and don't get the upholstery very wet, use mostly the suds on the cloth. I had good results with Woolite. I put the suds on the cloth and scrubbed lightly. Then I rinsed with a little water and immediately sucked the excess soap and water out of the cloth with a wet/dry vacuum. Keep the windows open for as long as it takes the seats to dry completely to avoid musty smells.

well these two things worked for me........if you have a Dollar General Store in your area, got and buy some of their brand hand cleaner. i think it is like M-30 or something of the sorts. use small amounts of that and scrub gently with SOFT bristle toothbrush. then if you have one, suck it up with one of those hand held "mini" Bistle power cleaners. my grand father put a lawnmower oil filter in a plastic bag in my back seat for me to take to TSC to find a replacement.....well he didn't tie the bag up and i had a huge nasty oil stain in my back seat. that process with those two products rid me of that little problem in about a half hour.
