Search through MSN etc.
DO NOT get vinyl (cheapest)
Make sure its Stayfast/Twillfast
There are some measurements you have to take; There were 4 different size tops and two differnt frames used from 88-92. Contrary to what you see do not order a top designated for an
" '89 camaro' " until you have done your measurements and verified thru the company that their specs match yours.
Try finding tops thru Robbins (online) ....they give info about where to take measurements and the assoc parts numbers.

I've seen Stayfast tops as low as $299 (w/ plastic window) to $470 (w/o plastic window) to $750.

It takes alot of searching and calling around to make sure you get the best deal and a top that fits.

Its frustrating as hell. I have a 91 convertible Z28 and my specs do not match the tops advertised for my car on certain web sites.

Thank you for responding. OK, so what is the difference between, Stayfast, Twillfast, and Sunfast. Also, I found prices ranging from $300 to $500, and all were decribed to be Stayfast. Is Stayfast from one supplier the same as Stayfast from another supplier? I am obviously confused.

 

I think Stayfast is a patented product. SO yes, stayfast should not vary at all from one dealer to the next. Twillfast and Sunfast are prob just trade names of the same material. Kind of like Tylenol and store-brand acetominophen.

Have you had any trouble with measurements at all?

 

The tops that do not automatically come with a plastic window sewn in require that you buy a separte plastic/glass window that zippers in. WHich is way cool once you think about all the tears and scratches that can be inflicted on that mylar: that way if your window goes to poop, you don't have to replace entire top but just zipper in a new one.


The catch is that the top w/o the plastic is $450-470 and the zipper in window will run an extra $100. So it depends on what you have to spend.

If you are trying to restore many different things on the car and don't have the $$ for the best top out there, don't worry.
